Brief: A 500-word editorial piece on Dartmoor and activities
When: August 2015
“We asked DropCapCopy to write a magazine editorial piece on Dartmoor. It was perfect – engaging and informative, clearly very well researched and what’s more, it was delivered before deadline. I found Graeme to be helpful, easy to work with, pro-active and extremely professional. Suffice to say, we will definitely be asking him to do more writing for us!” Jenny How, Visit Dartmoor
I initially contacted Jenny and Simon at Visit Dartmoor, the official Dartmoor Tourism site, with a view to writing some editorial for their hugely successful Active Dartmoor magazine. After I quickly came to the conclusion that I probably wasn’t the best advert for this level of activity, we discussed an opportunity regarding another upcoming editorial piece.
‘Prize Quest’ is a quarterly puzzle magazine offering competitions and prizes to its readers. It also has special editions that cover different areas of the UK. This particular edition was for the ‘South West’ variation and all the content was relevant to the region.
The brief was reassuringly simple: provide 500 words of copy for a double-page spread. Subject? Dartmoor. Oh, plus we had free rein to write about whatever we wanted. What a refreshing change!
I sent the draft copy through to Jenny just a day or two later, who immediately approved it and only changed one single word. An email to the publisher with the final copy attached followed and it was job done.
A fantastic project made easy by working with great people and writing about a limitless and ever-inspiring subject.
