I’m Graeme Piper, a UK-based freelance copywriter, and that, right up there, is what I do. And DropCapCopy is my copywriting, content writing, and copyediting business, owned and run by me.
DropCapCopy is a company of one – me. Purposely small – and I want to stay small – I work with a bunch of super-talented creative agencies and lots of amazing SMEs to write copy that engages, informs, and (often) entertains for websites, blogs, brochures, and general offline and online marketing. My main aim in all of this is to keep your copy simple, conversational, and natural. So simplifying the complex, kicking out the jargon, and making it easy to read.
You can see a selection of previous projects in my Portfolio pages that will give you a taste of what I’ve done and who I’ve worked for.
How did I get started?
Starting my copywriting career in a former marketing role back in 2014, I regularly wrote copy for company brochures, web pages, and blogs. It was only when my boss asked me to write a complete brochure from scratch that it dawned on me that I should, perhaps, explore this wonderful world of copywriting.
In early 2015, by taking courses, reading books, following all the right people, and putting myself out there, I started working with and writing copy for clients, for myself. After that unfathomably seemed to work, I finally went full-time freelance in August 2016. And here we are…
So why work with DropCapCopy?
What do you get when you work with me – and why should you? Well, for me, it’s personal. So these are my values, and with me as your trusted freelance copywriter, you’ll get someone who is:
> Hardworking: focused on delivering copy and content that talks to your target customer (copy written for people, not personas, remember?)
> Inquisitive: asking all the right questions (no matter how obvious or annoying) to get all the right information to say all the right things
> Adaptable: flexible enough to react quickly to work with your shifting timelines, unexpected extras, and fast or slow-paced deadlines
> Experienced: delivering fully-researched, well-written, and structured content on time and on brief for different SMEs and sectors for almost a decade
> Ethical: Open, honest, and upfront with you throughout the process for complete transparency (it’s just me you’re working with after all)
All these things combined, plus my experience in writing for different sectors and audiences means I put everything I have into creating good, quality copywriting content. The kind of content that hits the right spot, is easy to read and understand, and has a warm and conversational feel that doesn’t sound like it’s been written by an AI robot. But be warned: I do start sentences with ‘And’ and ‘But’. But only because I can. And it’s not wrong.
Sound good to you?
This is how I give every client both the undivided attention to detail that’s needed for an individual service and the copy to go with it. See my freelance copywriting services and copywriting FAQ pages if you need a bit more info beforehand.
So contact me when you want to get the ball rolling on your next project. Send me a message, call me on 07429 128 849, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can arrange a face-to-face meeting or an initial Zoom call. You can also get in touch and follow me over on my Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook feeds, as well as my LinkedIn profile, so say hi or ask me anything!
Oh, and I’ve also picked up two SME News Business Elite Awards for DropCapCopy Copywriting along the way: Most Trusted Freelance Copywriter of the Year (Devon) 2019 and Best Freelance Copywriter of the Year (Devon) 2020 and 2022.
But what about outside of copywriting?
Well, I can break this down pretty easily for you with a few quick facts:
> Liverpool fan – I’ve always been a reds fan. I’m still recovering from going to Anfield for every home game – and European away games – for several years.
> Music addict – My first gig was at 13 years old and I’ve been consuming music and gigs ever since. Gimme 3 chords and a guitar solo any day…
> Vinyl junkie – Buying records back in the day was a bit of an addiction. I went cold turkey for a while, but I’m back on it now…
> Avid reader – I love to read. No genre or subject in particular, but I always have a few good books on the go.
And I live in the market town of Newton Abbot – right in between Exeter and Plymouth – in Devon, with my wife and two cats, right on the doorstep of Dartmoor.
