Project Description
Client: Sherwoods // SPS Marketing & Design
Project: Website copywriting for site refresh
When: Spring 2024
Website: www.sherwoodsonline.co.uk
Sherwoods is a leading provider of smart and sustainable facilities maintenance services in the Southwest and beyond. Following a recent business rebrand, the Sherwoods team needed to refresh their existing website, including all-new website copywriting, to reflect their new identity and ongoing commercial success.
Website copywriting project background
Starting life way back in 1970, Sherwoods has gone on to become a leading facilities maintenance (FM) provider and major employer in the South West. Based in Newton Abbot, their 50+ years in business have seen sustained growth and increased service offerings for their customers. Following a bold, fresh company rebrand, the Sherwoods team also had plans to refresh their website completely. As a result, the site would include the updated branding and colour palette, new page design, new photography, improved UX, and all-important website copywriting to reflect their specialist services.
Web copy requirement in full
Local marketing, branding, and design agency SPS Marketing reached out and invited me on board this project. Having the chance to work with Darren and the team, as well as the team at Sherwoods, meant I was in fine company. Quoting for all-new website copywriting for every page in the newly revised site map, the copy requirement came down to the following pages:
– Main FM intro page, plus x 5 service pages
– Projects & Refurbishments service page
– PPM & Compliance service page
– Proactive Maintenance Visits service page
Together with these cornerstone service pages, additional site pages also included:
– Home
– About Us
– Join Our Team
I started my process with the FM intro page for approval of copy style, tone, and content. SEO was a low priority for Sherwoods as their history, track record, and market position speak for themselves. So once approved by Sherwoods (“It’s a thumbs up from us!“), this gave me the green light to continue with the remaining pages in the same style. After reviewing all the pages, Darren and I met with the Sherwoods team to discuss comments, feedback, and minor revisions.
Nailing the copy and going live
Whatever copy I’m working on, it’s always good to receive feedback with minimal changes. While the Sherwoods team were happy with the copy, we sat down together to make the amends they needed to make it sing perfectly.
Once all pages were complete and approved, the copy went back to Darren and SPS ready to populate the new site design. The all-new photography and site page layout designs all had approval from Sherwoods, so it was down to Darren and his team to use their web design skills to create the stylish website that launched in February 2024.
Special thanks to Graeme for his comprehensive and inspiring approach. The process wasn’t just about building a website – it was about crafting the story of our team and we are super proud of the finished product! For those embarking on any upcoming projects or “those types of” tasks, don’t hesitate to connect with Graeme.
